Engineered to Perform: Nitron’s New Top Mount Upgrade for the BMW F8X Series
At Nitron, we are never content to leave things as they are. Every kit we make goes through constant refinement because the goal is simple: make sure each one is optimised for the customer, whether they are enjoying spirited road drives, chasing lap times or building a dual-purpose street and track car. The BMW F8X chassis (M2, M3, M4 and their variants) has been a core focus of ours for years and it perfectly showcases how ongoing development can keep pushing performance further.
With the F8X Series already being one of the greats; incredible balance, huge tuning potential, and a chassis that feels alive straight out of the box. Our work has been about taking those strengths and amplifying them, refining every detail through customer feedback, testing and motorsport experience. The result is a suspension package that feels OEM in integration, but delivers a level of performance the factory could never offer.
New Hardware, Smarter Design
Our latest F8X kits come with a completely reworked top mount design. We previously used a 3-piece mount that allowed full adjustment for both caster and camber. While this offered maximum tuning flexibility, it added weight and complexity that many customers found unnecessary.
Based on user feedback, we redesigned the mount as a 2-piece unit that keeps camber fully adjustable, whilst locking in an optimised caster increase. This gives a sharper steering feel, more mid corner feedback and better stability under braking, while still letting owners fine tune camber for different tracks, tyres or driving conditions.
Other benefits include:
- Weight saving: By simplifying the structure we have dropped unnecessary mass. That is unsprung weight saved right at the sharp end of the car which translates directly to quicker suspension response.
- Reduced stack height: The new design lowers the stack height and frees up more usable suspension travel so the dampers can absorb bumps and kerbs more effectively without hitting their limits.
This is not just a cosmetic change, but a direct result of customer feedback shaping product evolution. As the new mounts tie directly into our R1 and R3 coilovers, it allows us to optimise valving and spring rates even further which means more compliance on the road and sharper response on track.
Nitron Automotive Top Mounts
Nitron adjustable top mounts are engineered with a focus on optimising suspension geometry, performance and durability. By replacing the original rubber top mounts with spherical bearing top mounts, you gain enhanced suspension articulation and increased responsiveness; this is extremely beneficial in high-performance scenarios.
All Nitron top mounts are made of Aerospace grade aluminium, this combined with titanium anodising ensures that these components are lightweight, durable and corrosion-resistant. Designed only to be used with our coilovers and modification may be required for them to be used with other manufacturers shock absorbers.
